NUTRIENT REDUCTION & ASSESSMENT PLAN
- NBWW Preliminary NARP Workplan
- In 2021, the NBWW hired Geosyntec Consultants to develop a Preliminary NARP Workplan that would aid the workgroup with an evaluation of existing water quality data and watershed information to draft a NARP scope of work, budget, and timeline. The NBWW Preliminary NARP Workplan was submitted to the Illinois EPA in December 2021.

-
- From that Preliminary NARP Workplan, the NBWW submitted a Request for Proposals (RFP) to hire a consultant to develop a NARP. Geosyntec was selected for this work and began NARP-related monitoring in June 2022. The NBWW submitted the final NARP report to the Illinois EPA December 22, 2025.

WATERSHED-BASED PLAN
- 2022 North Branch Chicago River Watershed-Based Plan Update
Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) updated the 2008 Watershed-Based Plan for the North Branch Chicago River watershed. Projects that improve water quality and are identified in watershed-based plans are eligible for grant funding through the Clean Water Act. SMC led development of the North Branch Chicago River Watershed-Based Plan in 2008 and this 10-year update maintains consistency with Illinois EPA and Clean Water Act guidance. In February 2022, Lake County Stormwater Management Commission submitted a draft of the North Branch Chicago River Watershed-Based Plan to the Illinois EPA for their review and comments. Funding for this project is provided, in part, by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency through Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.
